Denia - Perle am Mittelmeer

The Harbour of Denia - Old photo of my Grandpa (ca. 1965)

With the 50th Anniversary celebration of the "John Paul Jones" Production the time has come to finish a report about the Movie History of Denia.
My Grandma and Grandpa lived in Denia since the 50ths. They saw the first tourists and Denia throughout the ages.
My parents stay in Denia for several months a year and since 40 years I'm in Love with Denia myself.
Definitely this webside would not be there without our family tradition in Denia!
Whenever a Movie Frigate Captain or a Pirate Armada needed a secure harbour Denia was the first Choice. The Port of Denia was an exceptional Location for many Genre productions.

The Sailing Vessel my Grandpa found in the port of Alicante 1964 is the old Movie Frigate
"Marcel B.Surdo". She still looks like the "Defiant", but after I made a scann of the Dia with
a much higher solution I could read the name on the stern: "HISPANIOLA"???
Great! That must be the Ship Director Jess Franco used to film first takes for the Orson Welles movie project "Treasure Island"! Click here for more informations: Hispaniola
