The Michael Winner Western "Chato's Land" is one of my favorite Almeria Western.
Whether you like Chato or not you must admit that the movie is full to the brim with fantastic desert locations.
In the Rambla Indalecio they built a special Rock for the movie.
This is pretty unusual among Western Productions filmed in Almeria.
I call this Rock the "Deathfinger Rock"! However you might call it, "Hand of Mannitou", "Chato Rock", its a unique Western location.

If you compare both shots You can see that the Deathfinger was built a bit "around" a real rock. This rock stabilized the whole construction of lime, hay and bamboo.

Location Archaeology at "Deathfinger Rock". Most people just go or drive through
the Rambla Indalecio to see the Balsicas de Alfaro. Especially those Jeep Tour Helldrivers are chasing through the Rambla like a Rallye Team on Paris-Dakar.
If the "Deathfinger" would still stand proud I'm sure that many people would stop for
a shot wondering what the hell this could be. Its a Location of Chato's Land!
Original pieces of the "Deathfinger". This Rock was built out of plaster lime, hey and bamboo. There was probably a framwork out of Bamboo roughcasted with the plaster-lime-hey mixture. Nothing for ages but good enough for a few movies.
The huge "Deathfinger" (several meters high!) had a wood foundation and the "Finger" was built near a real rock which stabilized the whole Set.

Actually a great comparison photo. The Deathfinger broke down long time ago and
what we see is the natural rock which was holding the Deathfinger construction in
this position.
